We are excited to introduce our newest member of the Steelway Brickhouse team, Andy Childs, Technical Sales Manager. With a wealth of experience in the industry and a fresh perspective, we sit down with Andy to learn more about his background, his journey within the industry, and his experiences during his first month at Steelway Brickhouse.
1. Tell us a bit about your background and how you got started in the industry.
Coming from a Foundry and Engineering family background, it was inevitable I was going to follow in their footsteps through my own career. Growing up I had a strong fascination with dismantling, improving, and re-building things whether that be Go-carts, RC cars, building skate ramps or helping my father restoring cars, it was clear the passion was there.
My first opportunity in the industry came in steel manhole covers as a trainee at the age of 18. Starting in product design and order processing along with working in day-to-day production for my first three years, it gave me the full scope of experience from initial enquiry to concept/design and manufacture, then finally delivering the engineered solution to site. This has continued through my 18-year career with some of the country’s leading manufacturers and engineering talent. Each role has included my passion for helping and learning in every area of the process to deliver the best service possible to the custome.
2. What attracted you to Steelway Brickhouse?
The chance to join the market leader Steelway Brickhouse was one that was impossible to turn down. To work with the most experienced in the industry is an honour.
3. What are you most excited about in your role at Steelway Brickhouse?
My new role at Steelway Brickhouse is my first remote experience soI am very nervous and excited at the same time. I’m sure it will be anenjoyable and rewarding experience.
4. How has your first month at Steelway Brickhouse been?
The first couple of months have been some of my most exciting times so far, as Ihave had the chance to bring a lot of my product design ideas to reality by collaborating with the unrivalled experience within the organisation.
The next few months are going to be great, finally getting out and meet the amazing people of the industry who I have known and helped for many years from behind a desk and phone.
We are thrilled to have Andy as part of our team and look forward to the innovative ideas and expertise he brings to Steelway Brickhouse. His passion for our products and his commitment to excellence are already making a positive impact.
Look out for more updates on our projects and the exciting contributions from Andy and the rest of our team.
